PLAYHOUSE CREATURES
Entertaining talk with powerpoint presentation, devised and delivered by Marion Reed

Each summer, Bristol and Bath welcomed company members from London’s established (patented) theatres, Drury Lane and Covent Garden, to join forces with home-grown talent, eventually becoming the focus for some notable developments in eighteenth century theatre.

Such luminaries as Hannah Pritchard, Sarah Siddons, John Henderson and William Powell honed their talents and gained immortal fame from outstanding performances in a dazzling repertoire as they developed strong familial and affectionate ties with the west country.

The fascinating lives of these playhouse creatures are glimpsed against a volatile social and political backdrop.
